Accommodation for the elderly of Mersea Island
Mersea Island Trust was formed in 1961, to provide one bedroomed warden supported accommodation for the elderly of Mersea Island to rent. The properties vary in size from studio apartments to a variety of larger sized one bedroomed self-contained flats suitable for single people and couples.
The Trust is a registered charity, and the Trustees and members of the committee are all unpaid volunteers.
Mersea Island Trust has two properties in West Mersea, Akhurst Court in Melrose Road and Mersea Court on High Street North.
Each site has a communal lounge where Residents can meet informally, or for events arranged by themselves or by the warden.
Both Courts are situated in West Mersea and are within walking distance of the centre of town.
